Job Summary

Our client, a State Corporation in the financial regulatory sector wishes to recruit 2 Senior Officers in the ICT Department. The two Senior Officers will include:

  1. Senior Developer
  2. Senior Database Administrator

Responsibilities

  1. The Database Administrator officer’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
  2. Also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases their accompanying software.
  3. Ensuring selection, installation, qualification, testing and validation of enterprise database systems and applications.
  4. Responsible for documenting all database installations and configurations.
  5. Designing and developing databases, database users and database security and other database objects including stored procedures.
  6. Responsible for creating and scheduling backups and database jobs.
  7. Responsible for monitoring the status of scheduled backups and database jobs.
  8. Responsible for database security and the analysis and application of database patches and upgrades to database servers and components.
  9. Developing, implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for database administration including backup, restoration, administration and disaster recovery.
  10. Administering all database objects, including tablets, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
  11. Troubleshooting problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools.
  12. Creating new database users as required and manage sharing of resources amongst applications.
  13. Preparing users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.
  14. Performing capacity planning that requires creating and maintaining the databases while working closely with system administrators.
  15. Enforcing and maintaining database constraints to ensure integrity of the database through constant communication with technical and operational staff.
  16. Managing vendor support contracts for hardware, software services.
  17. Liaising with user departments for any data requirements and their specifications.
  18. Assessing and developing long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
  19. Working with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  20. Creating models for new database components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
  21. Responding to and resolve database access and performance issues.
  22. Monitoring database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
  23. Designing and implementing redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  24. Monitoring, optimizing and allocating physical data storage for database systems.
  25. Planning and coordinating data migrations between systems.
  26. Developing, implementing, and maintaining change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
  27. Where need be, creating or supporting creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.
  28. Conducting research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  29. Facilitating in database transactions and security audits.
  30. Establishing appropriate end-user database access control levels.
  31. Developing routines for end-users to facilitate best practices database use.
