Job Summary

M-KOPA Solar is looking for a Senior System Engineer who will be responsible for carrying out project work to completion, escalations from Global Service Desk and managing Azure infrastructure.


Responsibilities


-Installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools.
-Responsible for network and application security.
-Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
-Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure.
-Resolve server or application related support issues.
-Maintain security, backup and redundancy strategies.
-Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Skills;
-Demonstrate Windows Server skills (IIS, Containers, PowerShell, Service Fabric, Failover clusters,Load balancing)
-Demonstrate capabilties in managing and administering laas,Paas and Saas.
-Solid cloud experience, preferably in Microsoft Azure.
-Team leadership skills,assigning tasks to junior engineers as well as following on tasks to completion.
-Ability to self-manage projects as well as prioritizing them.
-Experience with automation software e.g Puppet, cfengine,Chef, Octopus.
-Ability to asses, plan and build on capacity.
-Demonstrate Windows Server Administration skills.
-Demonstrate SQL Server Database Administration skills.
-Experience with monitoring systems.
-Solid understanding of network protocols and services.
-Experience dealing with server security issues.
-Review all backups and periodically check the validity of the same by running trial restorations on test servers.
-Scripting in Windows environment using PowerShell.
-Training and documentation of all systems.
-Provide technical support working with the Global Service Desk.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

M-KOPA Solar, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, is the global leader of "pay-as-you-go" energy for off-grid customers. Since its commercial launch in October 2012, M-KOPA has connected more than 500,000 homes in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to solar power, and is now adding over 500 new homes each day.
