Job Summary

Our client is a well-established organization that is involved in the development, distribution and exportation of mainly hybrid seed varieties. They are looking to recruit a Supply Chain Officer. The ideal candidate must have over 5 years’ relevant experience in a seed production environment in a similar role.


Responsibilities

  1. Ensure production and demand plans and activities are aligned and visible across the business.
  2. Develop/implement systems and Supply chain processes, including timely reporting of any issues.
  3. Supervision of employees and casual workers.
  4. Ensure field production is done in a timely and effective manner, to make sure that the planned quantities of seed are available as required;
  5. Coordinate recruitment of growers and the implementation of the field production plan;
  6. Ensure phytosanitary, regulatory and quality requirements, including certification, are adhered to and all shipments of seed made do not contravene any country or international regulations or good practice.
  7. Effectively manage inventory (including storage and transport) to optimize working capital deployment and assure seed quality is maintained.
  8. Liaise with regulators and testing stations to provide independent certification with respect to FS quality parameters and assure required documentation is issued.
  9. Liaise with the sources of breeder seed to ensure sufficient quantities are available in a timely manner to meet the production plan, ensuring agreements are in place with the seed or hybrid owners.
  10. Putting in place planning and logistics systems and processes that integrate with the company finance system.
  11. Ensure customer orders are fulfilled, dispatched and invoiced in a timely manner;
  12. Ensure the companies HSEQ rules and procedures are established and fully implemented.
  13. Prepare/present reports to management and other duties as required.
