Job Summary

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Field Director for USAID/Uganda’s Integrated Community, Agriculture, and Nutrition (ICAN) Activity, which will aim to sustainably enhance the resilience of vulnerable households by increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition with a focus on women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. The position will be based in Kampala, Uganda We are looking for individuals who are committed to exceeding expectations and who strive to improve the lives of people worldwide.


Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, the Field Director provides leadership and management oversight to technical activities in site offices for achievement of project goals. This may include, but is not limited to the following:

  1. Oversee the technical and administrative operations of three sub-regional offices, including directing a team of three Regional Team Leads.
  2. Assist the COP and the DCOP in the development and production of annual work plans, quarterly and annual reports, and other reports as needed to ensure that all project deliverables are of high quality and produced on time.
  3. Direct cross-cutting program activities across sub-regional teams, including for livelihoods, nutrition and hygiene, community and local governance, and social inclusion and behavior change programing.
  4. Work closely with the finance and compliance team in Kampala to ensure timely and correct processing of all grant applications and awards.
  5. Ensure that lessons learned and best practices are documented and shared. Work with monitoring and learning component to incorporate lessons learned to enhance project results.
  6. Travel frequently to sub-regional offices for compliance, training, and tracking consistency across implementation activities.
  7. Other duties as required.
