Job Summary

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Sub-Purpose 3 Lead – Community and Local Governance for USAID/Uganda’s Integrated Community, Agriculture, and Nutrition (ICAN) Activity, which will aim to sustainably enhance the resilience of vulnerable households by increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition with a focus on women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. The position will be based in Kampala, Uganda. We are looking for individuals who are committed to exceeding expectations and who strive to improve the lives of people worldwide.


Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party, the Sub-Purpose 3 Lead is responsible for overseeing the implementation of ICAN activities that seek to 1) strengthen inclusive participation in decision-making at the household, community, and local government levels; 2) improve coordination and productive linkages within households, communities, and between communities and local government; and 3) improve proactive risk reduction, mitigation, and management by communities and households. This may include, but is not limited to the following:

  1. Provide thought leadership and technical expertise on inclusive community and local governance strategies, partnerships, and activities during annual work planning.
  2. With the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Advisor, contribute to the regular review of MEL data for adaptive management.
  3. Ensure technical excellence of and provide ongoing support to technical staff in each sub-region, including assisting in the development of locally tailored activities, quality assurance, training of project staff, and assessing the need for specialized STTA.
  4. Other duties as required.
