Job Summary

The Kabete National Polytechnic is seeking suitable candidates.

  1. KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+
  2. KNEC Craft certificate in Welding
  3. Served in a relevant position for at least three (3) year
  4. Must be below 35 years


  1. Provide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practical’s.
  2. Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop.
  3. Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section head.
  4. Requisition for consumables to ensure they are replenished in timely manner and organize in a way that they are easily traced.
  5. Prepare maintenance schedule for all the workshop equipment for approval by section head and maintain requisite records on servicing schedule on various equipment and machinery to ensure the schedule is adhered to.
  6. Advise the section head on the budgeting requirement of the workshop to ensure that all the requirements of the workshop are budgeted for
  7. Segregate non-financial equipment and machinery to promote safety on the workshop
  8. Provide procurements specification for workshop equipment to be purchased to ensure purchase of the correct equipment/machinery
  9. Report breakdown of machinery and equipment to the head of the section to advise on replacement needs.

The current Kabete National Polytechnic has a rich history that dates back to 1924 when the colonial Government started it as a Native Industry Training Depot. Later it was converted to a recruiting barracks for soldiers during the 2nd World war (1939-1945). After the 2nd World war was over it was reverted into a school for 3 years Trade courses for primary levels (former Std 8). With time and the conversion to a new system of Education Kabete became a National Technical Secondary School with the purpose of admitting Std 7 pupils who excelled in their Std 7 National Exams acheter cialis during the 7-4-2-3 system of Education. During this time, the Institution used to admit to form I the best and outstanding performers inStd7 National Examinations from all over the Country. It also admitted students from what then used to be referred to as Grammar Secondary without technical background. These were admitted in form 3 and were expected to pursue while in that form other trade areas such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical etc. as a gateway to joining technical colleges.
