The Job holder

Reporting to the Senior Operation & Production Manager and as a member of the James Finlay Mombasa Management Team, the job holder is expected to develop plans and strategies including operational & shipment schedules, storage plans, and enforce programs that are essential to ensure efficient layout in and outside the warehouse. This includes warehouse evaluations and plans for improvements of services in terms of collection of teas from 3rd party warehouses, containers, blending and stuffing, and its subsequent delivery to the port in a timely manner.


Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science and technology or its equivalent.

  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience at the senior supervisor level in a busy warehouse operation with broad knowledge of material handling, warehousing, and transportation systems.

  • Computer proficiency and knowledge with demonstrable development and ability to work with IT systems preferably ERP systems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of diverse backgrounds of personnel in a busy warehousing, logistics, and trading setup.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of hierarchy and to work under pressure in situations of complexity to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Experience in leading teams and people management to deliver on target.

  • Have knowledge of food safety and quality management system

  • Be results-oriented, and passionate about product quality and customer focus.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Knowledge of tea blending will be an added advantage.

  • Coordinating warehouse activities including value addition, container stuffing operations, and ensuring producer and JFM teas are kept safe and secure.

  • Preparing out-turn reports, stocking out, generation of weight notes, and monitoring the inbound & outbound activities from the warehouse.

  • Being at the center of supervision of labor and evaluating their utilization for effective labor cost control.

  • Managing collection of teas and containers up to and including delivery of the same to the port.

  • Ensuring company policies and other regulatory requirements including health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.

  • Maintain records of machinery daily utilization and operations metrics

  • Undertaking monthly stock take and reconciliation process.

  • Be fully involved in the day-to-day decision-making on quality control and assurance during production.

  • Participate in budget preparation and monitoring of revenue generation by ensuring appropriate actions are made for the targets.

  • Inspection of goods and services from suppliers ‘warehouses.

  • Support, Implement, and adhere to all food safety and Quality management systems. Requirements standard and work closely with the Quality Assurance team.

  • Participate in performance appraisal of staff.
