Educational Qualifications:
Essential:
- First university degree in communication, journalism, public health or related area.
Essential:
- Over 5 years of relevant experience working in a communications role which involves developing content and coordination.
- Experience in the area of non-communicable diseases or the area of public health.
Desirable:
- Relevant work experience with WHO and/or UN agencies, health cluster partners, or relevant non-governmental organizations.
- Experience working in journalism, communications, advocacy, especially related to diabetes.
- Experience working with journalists, and graphic designers.
- Familiarity with the WHO style guide and communications practices.
Essential:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to priorities and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of best practices related to diabetes communications, including WHO work and the language matters movement.
- Social media skills, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other platforms.

- Expert knowledge of English.

- Intermediate knowledge of other WHO languages.

To provide technical expertise to the WHO diabetes team in the following areas:
- Communication;
- Advocacy;
- The consultant will contribute to providing communication material and advocacy across the workstreams of the Global Diabetes Compact. All outputs will be delivered in collaboration with the focal point of the WHO communication department.
