science team to help us bring enhanced understanding and insights into how our product works, and how it impacts the user experience. We work in a highly collaborative environment, and you will initially be responsible for building ML models to enhance the user experience, which is directly tied to improving health outcomes for underserved patients, communities, and families around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Build data products to inform decisions around health service delivery and patient engagement using statistical and machine learning models from structured, unstructured, and text data (NLP).

  • Uncover insights surrounding diabetic and hypertensive patient management in urban to rural communities of sub-Saharan Africa via development of novel machine learning algorithms leveraging internal and external data sources.

  • Collaborate and interact with frontline team members to better understand project constraints and problem space.

  • Remain at the cutting edge of ML research by keeping up to date with the latest techniques and approaches in machine learning and statistical analysis by actively engaging within the broader ML research community

  • Ensure that teams are adhering to established standards, coding practices, and way of working.


Must Have

  • Growth mindset and willingness to go above, beyond, and outside of the formal role

  • 2+ years of experience building data products

  • Solid programming skills and experience with Python and related data analysis and machine learning libraries

  • Demonstrated ability to wrangle real-world data for exploration and quick insights to guide further analysis.

  • Experience with high performance computing, cloud computing and/or docker

  • Experience working on ML projects with healthcare or geographic data is a plus but not required

  • Has experience in data visualization tools is a plus

  • Organized, focused and with a high degree of commitment, independence, and time management

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams reaching joint goals

  • Able to communicate complex ideas in a clear, precise, and actionable manner both written and verbally

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken


Nice to Have

  • Experience with healthcare data and/or healthcare programs

  • Experience working in both Asia and Africa

  • Experience with AWS & Cloud-hosted technologies


Travel: Up to 10%, including
international

  • India (Remote, Chennai preferred)

  • Nairobi, Kenya


Education:

Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Analytics, Statistics, or related field. Concentration in data analytics or data science.
