Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

  • served in the grade of Assistant Director level in any of the technical divisions in the Authority for a minimum period of three (3) years or in a comparable and relevant senior management position in a large public or private organisation; 

  • Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Business Administration, Economics, Policy Analysis, International Relations, Social Science or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; 

  • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Business Administration, Economics, Policy Analysis, International relations, Public relations or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; 

  • Certificate in management lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; 

  • Computer Literacy; and 

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

i) mobilizing resources to finance the programmes of work for drought management and climate change adaptation in Kenya,

ii) developing systems and procedures to monitor their use; 

iii) reviewing finances and credit agreements for both grants and donations; 

iv) facilitating and monitoring implementation of donor funded projects; 

v) supporting the negotiations and signing of new funding agreements;

vi) preparing and conducting formal meetings with donor agencies; 

vii) developing and implementing an advocacy strategy to support actualization of the Authority’s strategic plan; 

viii) building strong partnerships with governmental and non-governmental bodies within and outside the country and promote the work of the authority; 

ix) facilitating two-way communication channels with agencies/stakeholders through emails, conference calls and agency/stakeholder’s relation website; and 

x) ensuring the authority’s obligations to development partners and other stakeholders are met in a timely transparent and accountable manner.
