  • Have knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than five (5) years, three (3) of which must have been at management level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education/ Technology Education; Bachelor of Science/ Arts with a post graduate diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
  • Masters’ Degree in Education or Technology Education, Science /Arts from a recognized institution;
  • Having undergone Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme course of not less than six weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Computer applications from a recognized Institution
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance results

  • Supervising the provision of appropriate curriculum support materials, tools and equipment
  • Monitor youth polytechnic trainee enrolment and implementation of curricular and co-curricular activities to maintain standards
  • Assessing upcoming youth polytechnics’ capacity for registration as training institutions and examination centers
  • Strengthening strategic partnerships and collaborations among stakeholders on revitalization, rehabilitation and promotion of youth polytechnic training
  • Supervising disbursement of subsidized youth polytechnic tuition scheme and grants
  • Coordinating development and integration of information communication technology in youth polytechnic training 
  • Managing inter-youth polytechnic exchange programs to enhance learning 
  • Ensuing the development and maintenance of assets and skills inventories in youth polytechnics
  • Building capacity in youth polytechnics by conducting regular human resource planning 
  • Liaising with Kenya Institute of Education and Kenya National Examinations Council in developing and reviewing curricular and also administering examinations in youth polytechnics
  • Developing proposals for resource mobilization
  • Validating youth polytechnic reports against set criteria
  • Preparing departmental budgets, procurement plan and annual work plans 
  • Supervising and training staff
