Job Summary

Contract Type:

Full time

The Role

The Head of College (HOC), reporting the Headmaster, is a member of the Senior School

Management Team (SSMT) and leads on many vital aspects of the Sixth Form.

Alongside more generic duties connected to being a member of the SSMT, responsibilities of

the HOC include leading various teams involved in the College, monitoring and supporting

the academic progress of all College students, and taking responsibility for the transitions

into the College and to destinations beyond. The successful candidate will be leading a Sixth

Form with motivated and aspirational students, with a track record of supporting students to

gain entry to some of the most prestigious institutions across the world.

Please note that, while this is a significant whole school responsibility, the successful

candidate will also have up to a 0.7 teaching timetable. With departing staff teaching in the

Sciences, Humanities, Mathematics and Sociology (teaching posts to be advertised

separately), an ability to teach one of these would be an advantage – but for the right

candidate there is flexibility to teach other specialisms.

All staff are involved in the wider life of St Andrew’s, including the School’s vibrant cocurricular and boarding programmes; an ability to contribute to these would also be advantageous.

Person Specification

Working at St Andrew’s, Turi, is an exciting and dynamic experience. Our desire is to recruit committed

and resourceful staff, who are looking to not only develop their skills and leadership capacities, but also embrace new experiences and challenges.

Essential to working with us are:

 The need to be able to support the School's aims and Christian ethos

 A clear passion for ensuring the academic progress of all Sixth Form students

 A good degree in your teaching subject and relevant teaching experience

 Experience in pastoral care (boarding school experience is desirable, but not essential)

 A strong work ethic and experience of working in a team

Beyond that we want staff who are committed to allowing students to thrive; first-class communicators;

passionate about the subjects and students they teach; creative and diligent in their planning; and, given life

in a full boarding school, are adaptable, energetic and resilient.

Above all, what matters is a commitment to help us provide a world-class education for our children
