Required Professional Experience
15+ years in the financial inclusion sector
Worked at a senior leadership level in peer organisations or financial inclusion organisations and both comfortable and able to communicate with senior staff, government officials and donors.
Strong writing and analytical skills
Experience conducting social research in developing world contexts
Evidence of having produced practitioner-oriented publications, guides, studies, posts
Proven presentation skills (e.g. webinars, utilizing virtual tools and mediums)Master’s degree in a relevant field
Demonstrated broad understanding of financial inclusion through a combination of courses attended (E.g. Boulder school of microfinance) and hand’s-on engagement with credit, savings and insurance work.
Proof of written publications in topics related to financial inclusion
Preferred Knowledge/Qualifications for the role
Preferred field-level experience in savings groups and microfinance
Experience of actively participating in microfinance associations (e.g. SEEP working groups, national microfinance association)
Has conducted and published research in the field of inclusive finance
Has attended Accion or Boulder microfinance senior management training courses

Research & document financial sector market gaps
- Develop, lead and oversee market research on gaps in key markets for financial inclusion including savings groups, insurance, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), cash transfers and other humanitarian assistance
- Document market research done by VFI and World vision (e.g. insurance and savings groups)
Research and document innovations and lessons in addressing these gaps
- Lead on documenting WV/VF innovations, models and lessons in priority areas
- Engage and decide on researchers and consultants in evaluating and documenting WV/VF’s financial inclusion innovations, and external initiatives aligned with priority areas.
- Communicate with internal and external audiences as executive and board levels.
Support sector-wide learning in savings groups, water/sanitation systems finance, microinsurance, and humanitarian finance
- Develop and facilitate webinars and conferences on key topics.
- Coordinate knowledge sharing events with partners on priority topics.
- Participate in forums held by the Centre for Financial Inclusion, CED (Christian Enterprise Development) network, DSG (Digital Savings Group) Hub and others to identify new innovations, lessons and opportunities for partnership in priority topics.
Responsible for leading, designing and delivering the WV Inclusive Finance Team’s webpage
- Strategically design and update website content
- Engaging with industry leaders to maintain relevant posts and publications
Support funding raising initiatives in the US, particularly working with WVUS, the WVI GAM team and VF grants team
- Support WVUS in engaging with key donors when needed
- Lead with WVUS on building relationships both within the DC team & with donors
- Identifying potential opportunities where a market solution approach has a financial inclusion component (when focusing on the very poor).
- Build understanding of the new VF strategy for partnerships
