Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.


Work Experience

A minimum of Five (5) years of managerial experience in either printing, graphic design and/or multimedia, including four years at the international level is required.

Experience in electronic management of workflow; computer assisted printing and publishing technologies is required.

Experience in publishing workflows and content management systems is required.

Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

1. Production control and DTP production:

(a) Manages the DTP Unit, which coordinates and directs daily operations by scheduling and assigning work to ensure the timely delivery of DTP output needed for publications printing; prepares staff and work schedules for weekend and overtime; calculates number of weekend and overtime hours when required;

(b) Advises consulting officers, within the gDOC global system, throughout UNEP, UN-HABITAT, UNON and offices to the United Nations Funds, Programmes, and Agencies in or operating from Kenya on the status of, most appropriate, as well as most cost-effective, method of producing their DTP requests, particularly those involving color, taking into account the capacity of the Unit for completing DTP work.

Performs work of a DTP professional to create a variety of graphic products as requested by Clients

2. Procurement/inventory and supply:

(a) Directs the work of the DTP Unit to ensure that supplies of proof paper, plotter inks, direct image plates, chemicals and film are available in adequate quantities at all times by ensuring that the Reproduction Supervisor and Administration Assistant are fulfilling requests for these items in UMOJA along with UNON Contracts and Procurement Section.

(b) Monitors stock levels on usage of supplies; and ensures that requisition requests are prepared in a timely manner in accordance with the Financial Rules and Regulations and purchasing procedures of the Organization;

(c) Prepares financial and technical analyses of bids submitted for the supplies;

(d) Keeps abreast of new technology in the graphics industry, particularly DTP and digital technology, in order to provide proposals to the Chief of Section on procurement replacement and upgrading of outdated equipment or Software and prepares financial and technical cost analyses of proforma invoices; maintains spreadsheets the capital equipment and software inventory for the DTP Unit.

(e Provides technical advice and specifications concerning graphic supplies/equipment taking into account environmental considerations.

3. Uses PrintPak system to control supplies usage:

(a) Coordinates the input of data with regard to the supplies inventory in order to provide information in PrintPak of the total amount of supplies used for work done in the DTP Unit.

(b) Provides written information on the PrintPak job ticket sheets about the supplies used and time taken to perform DTP Unit work and ensures other DTP Staff are providing data regarding their work.

4. Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.

5. Performs any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
