The Role:

The holder of this position will be the focal point for the overall grant financial reports. This position ensures that accurate, timely and relevant internal and external financial reports will be prepared and shared to all stakeholders for timely decision making. S/he will ensure timely settlement of financial claims on the grant, carry out cash reconciliation, management of balance sheet accounts, offer support in external and internal audits exercises as well as assist in sub-recipient management.

Essential:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field from a reputable institution of higher learning
  • A professional Accountant – CPA, ACCA, CIMA finalist.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Finance and grant management roles preferably in International NGOs.
  • Experience with major multilateral and governmental donors- Global Fund, UN organizations, World Bank, USAID, SIDA etc
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, budget/cash-flow monitoring and internal accounting controls.
  • Good knowledge of procurement processes and internal control systems.
  • Must have good working knowledge of computerized accounting software, preferably in Sun Systems & Vision and literacy in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge in advanced excel preferred.

  • Grant financial management and reporting
  • Cash and bank management to ensure funds available for smooth running of program activities and accurate data is available for reporting.
  • To ensure timely activities implementation and maintain a good relationship with the program vendors, sub-recipients and other partners
  • Partnering to ensure timely settlement of financial claims relating to the grant in accordance with the WV and donor policies
  • Preparation and participation in program audits and reviews to enhance the performance rating of the grant and ensure audits and reviews are done in a timely manner with good results
  • Ensure smooth program implementation through effective partner engagement and risk assurance.
