Job Brief

The Shift Leader is responsible for respective shift with matters relating to ensuring the complete low/high voltage supplies along with their controls in the respective areas of the hotel, and the maintenance of all mechanical & electrical equipment, ensuring they are all in good working conditions. He/she is responsible for providing the customer with a secure, comfortable environment by maintaining the hotel’s assets through ongoing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring that all mechanical systems are operating in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, and according to local requirements and regulations.

Job Brief

The Shift Leader is responsible for respective shift with matters relating to ensuring the complete low/high voltage supplies along with their controls in the respective areas of the hotel, and the maintenance of all mechanical & electrical equipment, ensuring they are all in good working conditions. He/she is responsible for providing the customer with a secure, comfortable environment by maintaining the hotel’s assets through ongoing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring that all mechanical systems are operating in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, and according to local requirements and regulations.


  • Maintains all electrical/mechanical equipment

  • Maintains all electrical control panels’ in accurate function

  • Prepares preventive maintenance schedule

  • Maintains the cleanliness of all electrical panels, motors, electrical appliances etc.

  • Distributes the work to his technicians/team according to their capabilities to get the
    best results

  • Ensures correct communication and coordination is maintained at all times

  • Ensures that the work done by technicians is according to the specified standard

  • Ensures that all related tools are in safe place and in good working condition

  • Follows the preventive maintenance chart strictly and maintains records for future reference

  • Coordinates with other departments’ counterparts and ensures their satisfaction on quality
    and progress and creates healthy inter-department relationship

  • Maintains all kitchen and laundry equipment in good working order

  • Maintains the cleanliness of all kitchen and laundry equipment

  • Maintains the performance of pumps and motors in the hotel

  • Follows the preventive maintenance chart strictly and maintains records for future reference and progress

  • Knows the emergency procedures in the hotel and what to do in case of fire

  • Comes up with suggestions that may help to improve the maintenance and performance of the systems/equipment

  • Understands and lives all rules and regulations of fire, health and safety and to be on standby in cases of emergencies i.e. power cuts, evacuations and related catastrophes

  • Communicates to Chief Engineer, Duty Manager, all other stakeholders of any jobs that have not been done within current shift and remedies sought

  • Communicates to Management/Chief Engineer of any trends or regular items appearing on requests

  • Monitors planned maintenance against bar chart on the set periodic basis

  • Advises Chief Engineer on the administration problems within the department

  • Maintains information on movements and assignments of key staff in the Engineering department

  • Maintains records of numbers of outsourced personnel and company names working within the Hotel during the shift informing relevant parties in good time

  • Monitors the Engineering stocks in liaison with Maintenance Manager/Chief Engineer

  • Supervises the Engineering team during the shift while supporting team members address maintenance requests to deliver excellent guest experience

  • Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency and safety

  • Ensures compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards and procedures

  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of
    work required

  • Maintains accurate logs and records as required providing reports when required

  • Handles guest problems and complaints effectively while providing exceptional customer
    service

  • Empowers employees in the engineering department to provide excellent customer service

  • Understands and utilizes business information to manage everyday operations and generate innovative solutions to approach team, business, and administrative challenges

  • Helps establish priorities for total property maintenance needs

  • Training and supervision of employees’ ability to execute tasks during the shift

  • Helps ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel environment with proven track record

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficiency in Ms Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel

  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Outstanding ability to interact and communicate with all stakeholders

  • Outstanding ability to diagnose and resolve problems swiftly
