About the role:


The successful candidate will assess and prudently underwrite General Business in commercially sound terms and to ensure that all underwriting and documentation duties in the section operate effectively and efficiently.



● The successful candidate will be ideally required to start ASAP


  • Issuance of certificates upon receipt of request from clients

  • Declaration of insurance issued through DMVIC to the respective underwriting companies

  • Update CRM (Client Relationship Management) on new businesses received

  • Cancellation of insurance upon receipt of request from insured

  • Offer exemplary customer service to new and existing clients

  • Respond to clients enquiries raised through emails, phone calls, and sms within the shortest turnaround time.

  • Resolve complaints arising from clients within the stipulated time frame.

  • Claims management

  • Follow up with insured individuals on outstanding premiums and upcoming renewals.

  • Generate and share quotations with prospective clients in a quest to acquire more business

  • Assess the proposed risk within set standards to accurately determine the risk the business is taking.

  • Issuance of policy documents for newly issued businesses

  • Amend and endorse insurance contracts at the time of purchase or during renewal upon client request.

  • Reconciliation of policies premiums payable and outstanding amount.

  • Issuance of debit and cover notes.

  • Maintain a detailed and accurate record of policies underwritten and decisions made.

  • Maintain high standards of customer service by responding to partners’ inquiries and efficiently addressing their issues.

  • Assist and support our partners in identifying our products (policies) that suit their needs in line with insurance principles.

  • Offer creative solutions to improve operations of the company

  • Manage schedules with our valuers when our customers purchase comprehensive covers.

  • Apply the credit control policy and ensure that debit/ credit notes raised are raised in the correct month to facilitate collection

  • Ensure proper filing of client information both manual and electronic for easy retrieval of documentation when required

  • Support the sales and business development team in marketing and business acquisition.

  • Any other duty as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or any other relevant field.

  • Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII, COP, FLMI, or AIIK) or demonstrate significant progress towards its attainment.

  • Up to 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office.

  • Sound knowledge of insurance, regulatory requirements and processes.

  • Knowledge in Claims is an added advantage.
