Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, specifically an LLB
  • An additional advantage is having a relevant post-graduate degree.
  • Membership in any of the following professional bodies is required: Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a legal function handling the aforementioned Job Responsibilities
  • At least 5 years’ experience providing litigation and dispute resolution services in a top-tier law firm or in a manufacturing industry.
  • An understanding and appreciation of corporate laws, securities laws, and capital market
  • An understanding and knowledge of industry regulations, policies, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • An understanding and knowledge of Nigerian case laws and court processes
  • An understanding, knowledge, and experience in Constitutional law, courtroom presentation, and negotiation procedures
  • Experience in real estate law, occupational safety, regulatory law
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

      • As a Litigation and Dispute Resolution Specialist at DIL, you will play a vital role in managing and resolving legal disputes and litigation matters.
      • You will work closely with the legal team to review court processes, provide legal opinions, and engage external solicitors to represent the company's interests in court and alternative dispute resolution.

      Duties

      • Maintain the company's litigation portfolio and liaise with the team lead, litigation
      • Review court processes and provide relevant legal opinions
      • Engage and collaborate with external solicitors to ensure effective representation in court and alternative dispute resolution
      • Negotiate solicitors' fees and oversee payments
      • Draft, review, and execute various agreements
      • Perform other duties as assigned by the Company Secretary/General Counsel
