Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the construction industry.
  • Membership of The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors would be preferable.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably with mid-level experience.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate, construction methodology, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using measuring software like AUTOCAD, Planswift and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of contract administration and procurement processes.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently, with excellent time management and organization skills.

  • Good financial and numeracy management skills: : As a Quantity Surveyor, you need numerical prowess to guide other surveyors through cost estimation processes. Mathematical knowledge is essential during the budgeting and tendering process.
  • Negotiation skills: As a Quantity Surveyor, you negotiate contracts on behalf of your organization. Hence, you need good negotiation skills to get the best value for money and good contracts for your organization.

Job Description

  • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mid-Level Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team.
  • As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the cost management and financial control of construction projects.
  • Your primary responsibility will be conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials and labor costs, Preparing, negotiating and analyzing costs for tenders and contracts, Coordination of work effort, Advising on a range of legal and contractual issues, Valuing completed work and arranging for payments
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Quantity Surveying and possess excellent analytical and communication skills.

Job Duties

  • Communicate with the management, contractors and sub-contractors on the adjustments to cost estimates to facilitate a smooth transition of information.
  • Conduct negotiations during the course of the project in order to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Control project scope to meet project objectives in order to enhance project deliverables and key work activities.
  • Monitor project costs to ensure the objectives of the project are achieved in accordance with building contract law.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Prepare cost analysis and form cost reduction strategies to ensure the overall value is enhanced for the project.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents in accordance with the building and construction regulations.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims so that the project scope is managed.
  • Conduct accurate quantity takeoffs, measurements, and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BOQ) and tender documents.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tender submissions.
  • Carry out cost planning and cost control activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure project cost objectives are met.
  • Monitor and track project expenses, variations, and contractual obligations.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, cost forecasts, and final accounts.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to assess progress, verify quantities, and evaluate project costs.
