  • At least 3 years’ experience in entomological studies for malaria research and control.
  • Demonstrated report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Yoruba and/or Ijaw languages.

Responsibilities

  • At least 3 years’ experience in entomological studies for malaria research and control.
  • Demonstrated report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Yoruba and/or Ijaw languages.

Timeline for assignment:

  • The timeline for the assignment is May 2024
  • Leads the entomology team at the assigned study site.
  • Coordinates and supervises hourly collection of mosquitoes using CDC light traps as a proxy for human landing collection (from 5:00pm to 9:00am in Ilaje and from 6:00pm to 6am in Akoko Southwest).
  • Identifies collected mosquitoes morphologically to species or species complex level.
  • Packs and labels collected mosquitoes and stores them dry in silica gel until the specimens are shipped for further laboratory analysis.
  • Resolves any issues reported by team members.
  • Reports to Malaria Consortium’s entomologist.
  • Ensures that all data are accurately collected and stored according to guidelines.
  • Writes reports related to activities of the team, including achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
