Marketing entails planning and developing strategies that will push the promotional messaging of an organization and determining how the advertisements will reach potential consumers whether by magazines, billboards, television, newspapers radio or internet advertising.
Sales on the other hand entails completion of transactions between interested parties for a product or service provided by an organization. Sales people set goals, maintain relations with customers, dealers and distributors. Sales managers analyze statistics presented to them to monitor clients' preferences, determine revenue potential, and monitor inventory needs since this information is essential for product development and the maximization of profits.
Sales and Marketing jobs expected job growth varies by industry while job growth in manufacturing industries is expected to decline. Accelerated job growth in, professional, computer systems design scientific, and advertising industries is expected to be greater than average as organizations outsource these services instead of adding additional employees.
