Reporting to The Practice Lead – Digital Economy you will be responsible and accountable for leading our work including strategy and program design, implementation, resource planning and management, monitoring, learning, impact reporting, and business integration with leading MSMEs. 

Specific areas of interest in the MSME space include interface with agencies, MSMEs, entrepreneurs and social innovators looking to improve the way the MSMEs are adopting technology as they seek to grow.  

This position requires a team player with leadership qualities, excellent communication & presentation skills, a professional and positive attitude, organization and dependability. 

Experience 

  • At least 10-years’ work experience with a minimum 5 years in project design, implementation, and management of projects in an international NGO or private sector.  
  • Exposure to systems and design thinking with an ability to understand and engage with stakeholders in a digital ecosystem and design programming that addresses root causes and critical needs. 
  • A proactive, engaged self-starter who demonstrates personal ownership for finding new opportunities for improving processes, practices, or resolving problems. 
  • Comfortable and highly effective when faced with ambiguity and/or complexity. Able to formulate and develop new or creative ideas and approaches and execute effectively on strategy.  
  • Strong, persuasive communicator across a variety of stakeholders. Able to understand diverse needs and remain sensitive to addressing those needs.   
  • Demonstrable experience in all phases of project management. 
  • Demonstrable experience in monitoring budgets. 
  • Proven team and personnel management experience.

Academic Qualifications  

  • Master’s Degree in Business Management, Information Technology, or Program Design and Management.

MSME Leadership and Strategy 

  • Liaise with the Programs Lead to develop and drive the overall program strategy and design within our MSME practice of entrepreneurs and stakeholders. 
  • Build awareness of the practice by taking an integrated approach to the Digital Economy program with in the MSME ecosystem of stakeholders and players. 
  • Serve as the overall contact person for the day-to-day MSME practice operations of the Digital Economy Program, both internally at The Innovation Village, and across the ecosystem.  
  • Manage research & insights that drive solutions for the practice & its clients especially government agencies, civil society organisations & the public 
  • Identify critical priorities for the unit & initiate activities to stimulate solutions around the priority areas 

 

  1. MSME Community Management 
  • Build a community of entrepreneurs targeting MSMEs at various stages of growth while designing appropriate programming that delivers growth and value to them.  
  • Create a metrics framework that can effectively measure engagement, behaviours, and impact of our activities within the practice.  
  • Develop a mentor network for the practice across the MSME space and work with them to support incubated ventures. 
  • Provide technical insights & networking support to ventures incubated at The Innovation Village that are focused on the MSME sector.  

 

  1. Stakeholder Management and Engagement.  
  • Understand partners’ business objectives/impact and for timely resolution of issues and to ensure program success. 
  • Collaborate with sector technical experts as needed to augment or further develop opportunities for technology within the MSME sector. 
  • Proactively identify engage & manage new partners with government, CSOs and donor agencies within the EdTech space while leading in developing proposals for new projects to local and international funding organisations 

 

  1. Program Operations 
  • Oversee the Program implementation with the MSME space, by planning, monitoring, and analysing key metrics for the day-to-day performance of the program operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks and other contractual obligations.  
  • Promote awareness of tech for MSMEs opportunities  through the creation and maintenance of an online presence, designing of engaging activities to reinforce the growth of the ecosystem in line with the priorities of the Digital Economy Program.  
  • Promote excellence and quality in programming through people-centered, systems thinking, and evidence-based approaches to both design and implementation. 
  • Plan, launch and manage innovation initiatives to deliver products to be utilised by education industry to improve service delivery through technology.
