To monitor, evaluate and ensure compliance with credit operating policies, procedures, processes, guidelines and to champion improvement, rationalisation, and re-engineering of credit management at branches

Education and training:

• Bachelor of Commerce/ Business Administration, Mass Communication, Languages, and related fields.

• MBA- Marketing option or Professional qualifications in Marketing (CIM) is an added advantage.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience in a similar role of 5-8 years in a senior position.


• The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a

professional manner is deemed essential.

• Ability to build functioning working relationships across organizational, corporate,

and cultural boundaries.

• Must have good verbal and written communication skills with good organizational

and administrative skills.

• Sound knowledge of general banking law and operational practices.


• Ability to translate strategy into achievable performance objectives


• Takes clear accountability and focuses on delivery of broader corporate goals.

Main Purpose of the job:

1 To expand market share of the bank, give strategic direction on Communication,

create awareness of the bank’s presence, drive profitability, design strategicmarketing and communication plans and provide leadership to subordinates.

2 To drive an integrated communications and reputational strategy across the PBU

network and position the bank as the leading and dominant financial servicesinstitution, in the market.

3 Plan, develop and project the corporate image of the Bank in line with the strategicdirection of the Bank, Bank policies and best practice through:

• Branding activities

• Development and Implementation of Public Relations strategies/programs


• Planning, Development, and Implementation of marketing strategies/programs

• Drive the execution of profitable campaigns in the PBU network Key Result Areas:

a) Marketing and Branding

• Develop marketing strategies and communicate the bank’s vision, goals andobjectives and ensure alignment of unit’s goals and activities

• Coordinate the development and review the annual marketing plan for the bank in

line with the projected growth levels, the existing business levels and Bank businessplan and Policies

• Develop, review and monitor the bank’s market information system and make

strategic recommendations in line with the growth projections and the existingbusiness levels and Bank Policies.

• Plan, review and monitor the implementation of the brand building and

consolidation strategies of the bank and submit regular compliance reports in linewith the core values of the Bank

• Develop and project a reputable public image for the Bank to reflect its vision,

strategic direction and enhance its competitive positioning

• Coordinate the monitoring and surveillance activities to ensure the Bank’s corporate

image and reputation is upheld and not tarnished

• Stay abreast of industry and corporate developments, events and issues in support ofthe Bank’s corporate image and responsibilities.

• Develop a framework to gauge the public perception of the Bank and develop

appropriate strategies and action steps to ensure alignment of public perception withthe image desired by the Bank.

• Receive, review and determine appropriate course of action with respect to project

and program proposals in support of the Bank’s corporate image and reputation.

• Carry out market research, enhance the corporate image of the Bank, and

merchandizing the Bank products and services.

• Plan, coordinate and monitor advertising activities.


• Participate in enhancing the profitability of the Bank through diversifying the Bank’s

product portfolio and market.

• Ensure that a standardized provision of PBU services, products and image is

maintained.

• Participate in the costing of new and existing products and projects & determine their

viability.

• Ensure the banks visibility through effective branding strategy

• Provide guidance and assistance to Business Units in the conduct of product/ servicecampaigns/programs.
b) Communication

• Develop and effective communication strategy to enable achievement of overall bankgoals

• Effective implementation of the Bank’s key communication & Brand initiatives.


• Initiate and develop plans for communication with public and within the bank.

• Manage media relations, guide internal communication including updating the

intranet & manage external training.

• Gathers information about the bank’s competitors and entire banking industry and

maintains a management information system for the department.

• Provide strategic direction towards strengthening the Bank’s reputation and

relationships with key stake holders, including regulators and the media.

• Coordinate the planning, organizing and execution of corporate and social events.

• Develop and establish beneficial relationships with media houses, agencies etc., in

support of the Bank’s corporate image and reputation.

• Develop a system to cohesively coordinate all activities relating to the allocation,

procurement, and distribution of corporate gifts.

• Coordinate the resolution of related issues emanating from both internal and

external sources as may be considered appropriate.

• Act as the Bank’s spokesperson and represent the Bank at a senior level for publicevents where necessary.

c) People

• Develop and monitor the performance of the department.


• Provide guidance and leadership to subordinate teams to ensure effective execution

of the department’s activities.

• Ensure key human capital issues are resolved consistently across the department, in

line with the guiding principles, policies and practices established by the Bank

• Regularly appraise the activities and functions of the department and make

recommendations for improvement to the supervisor.
