Healthy Entrepreneurs (HE) is a social business based in The Netherlands, with activities in several countries in Eastern Africa. HE is specialized in the implementation of last mile distribution models of reliable products and information that enhance health and the quality of life for people living in hard to reach and remote areas. HE is implementing its franchise model via more than 8,000 Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) in over 40 districts of Uganda today. For the Kampala office, we need an experienced Sales and Operations manager who will be responsible for the sales and operations department in a demanding and fast-growing organization. Healthy Entrepreneurs is a social enterprise, aiming for social impact, through running a business. HE has a unique business model and needs to be innovative and adaptable in order to achieve its mission.


We are looking for an organized, enthusiastic, and motivated professional with a strong personality and a high level of independency who will implement the sales and operations objectives while forecasting, managing, and evaluating performances as per set of predefined KPIs.


Main objective.

Ensure a smooth sales operation contributing to the HE overall objectives.


Work experience

  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in Business, Sales, Operations related activities.

  • Masters degree in business, sales, management or related topic.

  • Professional experience in health-related sector will be an advantage.

  • Experience with living and working in Sub-Saharan countries.

  • Relevant experience with logistics and distribution will be a plus.


Skills

  • Extensive experience in sales and business administration

  • Experience of managing a team of Ugandans (Sub-Sahara Africa)

  • Analytical skills and ability to communicate and present sales data

  • Management skills and knowledge

  • Able to manage a team of (+/-) 10 direct reports, and 35 indirect reports

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to motivate and lead a team

  • Planning and organizational skills

  • Flexible and able to work under pressure

  • Language: English is a must and preferably Luganda

Responsibilities

  • Implementation, improvement, monitoring and oversight of sales and operations strategies

  • Leadership, management and development of sales and operations team

  • Customer management and relations, sales management and loan repayment

  • Planning and organization of deliveries and face to face meetings

  • Realizing sales targets and other operational KPIs

  • Reporting on sales and operations KPIs and general operation

  • Take a constructive role in the leadership team of HE Uganda

  • Work together effectively with colleagues and across departments


Key activities

  • Set directions, targets and KPIs for the sales team, which consists of area managers and sales officers.

  • Use available data to accurately forecast sales and set appropriate performance goals and targets accordingly.

  • To plan, organize and manage the expansion of the running business from 8,000 Community Health Entrepreneurs today to 20,000 by end of 2024.

  • Ensure efficient, timely and accurate deliveries of (pre)orders to all areas and customers.

  • To manage the planning, preparation and organization of effective, regular face to face meetings with customers in the field.

  • To lead the retention activities to build and maintain a long-term relationship with our customers.

  • To monitor and manage the total outstanding loan balances and repayment strategies, in close collaboration with the finance department.

  • Maintain and keep track of the growth and performance of the network of Community Health Entrepreneurs.

  • Monitor realization of sales strategies and objectives.

  • To monitor the overall performance of sales team, and efficacy and efficiency of operational processes (sales activity, customer care, sales process automation and sales analysis).

  • To utilize CRM reporting tools for management purposes.

  • To identify operational improvements, streamlining sales processes and eliminating time-consuming factors.

  • To work closely with HE Uganda Country Manager and the leadership team finding methods and new ways to increase sales revenues and customer loyalty to the network.

  • To review and identify the key and most recurring challenges faced by our direct customers which could distract them from focusing on growing their business and improving their overall performances. This is done monthly together with members of the sales team.

  • To prepare and present periodic reports that contribute to key rational business decisions across all operational areas.

  • To assess sales employees’ performances periodically, as part of the internal Performance Management Plan and work together with Learning & Development to boost their growth.

  • Manage the responsible area managers and their sales officers and sales assistants in their responsibility for their own area / districts.

  • To ensure accuracy and completion of relevant data collection.

  • To prepare and design sales and financial dashboards for monthly review with the leadership team.

  • To build on a close, collaborative working relationship with the HE Uganda team and effective collaboration with all departments.
