To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a related discipline. Master and post graduate Diploma from a related discipline is an added advantage.
- Public Financial Management and a good understanding of public financial management performance’s impact on children’s lives.
- Analysis and research on fiscal policy and public financial management performance, specifically budgets/public expenditure.
- Designing and implementing a budget advocacy campaign, preferably with children or young people;
- Previous experience in working with civil society, public participation or audit institutions to keep government accountable, preferably with children and youth in a development context(s).
- Experience of work in child rights or human rights agendas in developing countries is highly desirable, preferably Uganda.
- Ability to think creatively, innovate, set priorities, manage a work plan, and evaluate progress with minimal supervision.
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with others and maintain a strong internal and external network, drawing on others when needed; evidence of working in a complex, global organization on governance projects and/or advocacy and campaigning.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of local languages in Uganda is an advantage.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, including an ability to deal with people at all levels with credibility, tact, and diplomacy
- Willing and able to travel time to support field teams as security permits.
- Ability to produce high-quality advocacy products under tight deadlines.
- Willing to commit to Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
