QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

i. Be a Kenya Citizen.

ii. Hold at least an first degree in either: Spatial/Urban Planning; Urban Development/Management; Geospatial Engineering; GIS; Architecture; Urban Geography; Environmental Planning/Management; Law; Public Administration; Economics; or Finance & Investment; from a university recognized in Kenya.

iii. Demonstrate capacity to offer leadership and work under pressure

iv. Possess competence in understanding and interpretation of urban management aspects, policies and public governance.

v. Have at least five years of relevant experience in a senior position in either public or private sector.

vi. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.


Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

ii. Hold at least an first degree in either: Spatial/Urban Planning; Urban Development/Management; Geospatial Engineering; GIS; Architecture; Urban Geography; Environmental Planning/Management; Law; Public Administration; Economics; or Finance & Investment; from a university recognized in Kenya.

iv. Possess competence in understanding and interpretation of urban management aspects, policies and public governance.

v. Have at least five years of relevant experience in a senior position in either public or private sector.

vi. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.


i. Act on behalf of the Municipal Board ensuring the execution of the decisions ofthe Board.

ii. Prepare and present for approval to the Board of the Municipality, an annual estimate of revenue and expenditure.

iii. Be principally responsible for building and maintaining a strong alliance and effective working relationships between the Board and the civil society, private sector and community based organizations;

iv. Prepare, and submit to the Board an annual report on the activities and accomplishments of the departments and agencies comprising the executive branch of the Municipality.

v. Act as n ex-officio member of all committees of the Board; and

vi. Exercise supervision over all departments and agencies of the Municipality and coordination of its activities;

vii. Administer and enforce all Municipality By-laws, resolutions, franchises, leases, contracts, permits, and other Municipality decisions;

viii. Prepare and administer the annual Municipality budget;

ix. Administer Municipality utilities and property;

x. Encourage and support regional and intergovernmental cooperation;

xi. Promote cooperation among the Board of the Municipality, staff and citizens in developing Municipality policies and building a sense of community;

xii. Perform any other duties as directed by the Board of the Municipality.
