We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Junior Agronomy Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining nutrient levels, developing pest control methods, and improving seedling production. The officer should be comfortable using a data-driven approach to optimize growing conditions and ensure high-quality produce and develop S.O.P.s when relevant. You will also play a pivotal role in optimizing the productivity of our own demo farm.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of nutrient management, pest control, and seedling production.
  • Some working knowledge and experience with aquaponics and/or hydroponics is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self driven and a passion for growing, sustainability and urban farming practices is a plus.

  • Nutrient Management: Monitor and maintain optimal nutrient levels. Perform water tests to assess nutrient content and needs. Adjust (organic) nutrient formulations based on data analysis to improve plant health and yield.
  • Pest Control: Develop and implement effective organic pest control methods. Monitor crops for signs of pests and diseases. Use integrated pest management (IPM) practices to avoid the use of chemicals. Keep detailed records of pest occurrences and control measures.
  • Seedling Production: Improve seedling production to ensure healthy plant starts. Oversee the propagation of seedlings (germination and transplanting). Monitor environmental conditions in nurseries and adjust as needed. Maintain records of seedling production rates and success.
