Description

The Plantation Growth Supervisor

(PGS) provides operational and supervisory leadership for Plantation Growth

Coordinators across two designated areas. The PGS ensures consistent

implementation of silvicultural activities, improves data quality, and drives timely

execution of seasonal work plans. The PGS acts as a key link between PGCs and

the PGO.

Responsibilities

1.
Supervision
& Performance Management:

  • Supervise

daily work delivery of PGCs via field accompaniment and weekly check-ins.

Provide coaching on silviculture standards, farmer technical engagement and

    reporting discipline.

  • Conduct structured performance

assessments and improvement planning per coordinator.

  • Ensure coordinators meet KPIs on garden coverage, quality, survival checks and

    ethics.

2. Plantation
Quality Oversight:

  • Validate

silviculture completion (weeding, pruning, thinning, gap-filling, firelines).

  • Identify early warning signs of

pests/disease, grazing damage and climate stress.

  • Guide and monitor implementation of corrective actions at garden level.

Prioritize high-risk gardens and coordinate rapid response with the PGO.

3. Farmer
Engagement and Support (Technical):

  • Support

PGCs to deliver practical farmer coaching sessions.

  • Resolve escalated technical farmer

    issues and ensure respectful engagement.

  • Identify and nurture model farmers for

    demonstrations.

  • Mobilize farmers for technical training and maintenance campaigns.

4. Data Quality
Assurance & Reporting:

  • Verify

completeness and accuracy of PGC data submissions before escalation.

  • Conduct random spot checks to confirm

    field reality matches reported data.

  • Detect and address anomalies, fraud

    risks or misreporting.

  • Produce weekly cluster performance summaries with clear exception notes.

5. Operational
Planning & Coordination:

  • Develop

weekly/monthly workplans with PGCs based on field seasonality. Ensure even area coverage and avoid

    missed gardens/groups.

  • Coordinate joint campaigns with Farmer Relations during

    critical periods.

  • Troubleshoot operational delays (transport, scheduling,

    staffing).

6. Compliance,
Ethics & Safeguards:

  • Enforce

safety, environmental and operational standards in all PGC work.

  • Promote ethical field conduct and zero

    tolerance for data fraud.

  • Lead preliminary investigations on

    anomalies and escalate findings.

  • Ensure resource use is

    accountable and properly documented.

7. Support to NH
Operations During Peak Seasons:

  • Provide

technical accompaniment during planting and PSR seasons.

  • Assist NH teams with mobilisation,

seedling distribution verification and spacing checks.

  • Train NH teams on best establishment

    practices.

  • Document

    planting issues and improvement actions.

8. Other Duties as
Assigned by Management:

  • Provide

flexible support for emerging field priorities.

  • Represent the PGO in cluster-level

    meetings when required.

  • Support inter-district coordination activities.

  • Contribute to SOP and training updates.

Qualifications
and Skills:

  • Diploma

or Bachelor’s in Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Community

    Development, or related field.

  • Minimum

2–3 years’ experience in plantation management or supervising field teams.

  • Strong

knowledge of silviculture and rural community dynamics.

  • Strong

    reporting and data verification skills.

  • Motorcycle

riding and willingness to work predominantly in the field.

Personal
Attributes:

  • Strong

    coach and field mentor.

  • High

    integrity and ethics.

  • Organized and deadline-driven.

  • Analytical problem-solver.

  • Respectful, culturally sensitive communicator
