About the Kuehne Foundation & Kuehne Climate Center
The Kuehne Foundation is an independent, operational, and international non-profit foundation headquartered in Schindellegi, Switzerland. Established in 1976 by the Kühne family, it is one of the largest foundations in the German-speaking world.
The Foundation advances education, training, research, and scientific innovation in logistics and the transportation industry. It also maintains a medical campus with leading research programmes in allergology and cardiology, supports cultural institutions including festivals, opera houses, and concert halls across Europe, and develops initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future.
As part of its commitment to addressing climate change, the Foundation established the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) as its climate-focused subsidiary. KCC develops and implements innovative solutions that enable the transport and logistics sector to support more climate-friendly and sustainable development. Working closely with governments, development partners, academia, and the private sector, KCC delivers programmes that advance freight electrification, sustainable logistics, and climate resilience across regions, including East Africa.
