Historically, Molly Specialist Hospital was established in 1985 as a small ambulatory clinic. Later, admission facilities/in-patient care were added. The hospital is accredited by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria as a centre for tutelage of senior resident doctors in Family Medicine.
