As the Project Officer – Livelihoods at UKPC, you will spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the economic stability and resilience of the communities we serve. In this vital role, you will be responsible for orchestrating the planning, coordination, and execution of diverse livelihood programs. Your duties will include conducting thorough assessments to identify needs and opportunities, crafting strategic livelihood interventions, empowering beneficiaries through targeted capacity-building efforts, and forging essential market linkages to facilitate sustainable economic growth. Your work will directly contribute to the improvement of living conditions and the promotion of economic self-sufficiency among the project beneficiaries.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in, Development Studies, Economics, Agriculture or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in livelihood programming within international development projects.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in livelihood approaches, value chain development, market systems, and income generation strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting participatory assessments, developing tailored livelihood plans, and executing community-based projects.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, NGOs, and the private sector.
  • Excellent facilitation and training capabilities, complemented by strong communication skills.
  • Well-versed in all aspects of project management, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of donor regulations and compliance requirements, especially those pertaining to USAID-funded projects, is highly preferred.
  • Language requirements: Fluency in spoken and written English. Fluency in one or more commonly spoken Ugandan vernacular languages is a plus.
