Coming up with a prioritized list of the things you want to accomplish can give you a good action plan to take your career to the next level.

At the start of this year, you probably set new career goals or came up with a list of things you wanted to change in your career. Since January is the month where many employers are hiring, there are usually plenty of job opportunities. This could be the best time to think about the direction you would like to take with your career and to start looking for new opportunities.

It's also a time to reflect on the career goals you set at the beginning of the year. Did Fuzu assist you in achieving them? You could have enrolled for a new course, applied for a new job on Fuzu or asked for advice from our certified career coaches on the next steps in your career. Whichever initiative you took, you were determined to complete the task as they would contribute greatly to your career growth.

If you didn’t, here is one key reason you may not have achieved your career goals - lack of a prioritization strategy! Coming up with a prioritized list of the things you want to accomplish can give you a good action plan to take your career to the next level.

With that in mind, we at Fuzu, want you help you make a fresh start next year and succeed in your career journey. Here are some tips on how to prioritize your tasks to help you take your career to the next level:

  • Urgent and important: Things that shout ‘Now’ because they contribute to your long term mission and values. Like checking out our emails and applying for your dream job before the deadline!
  • Important and not urgent: Things you need to get done but not immediately. It could be as simple as joining a professional body to build your network.
  • Urgent and not important: Get these done but don’t let them consume too much of your time. For example, a colleague coming over to your desk and asking for a favor during your prime working time.
  • Not urgent and not important: These are normally distractions, like scrolling through your Whatsapp all day at work. You could as well just blue tick them!

If taking a different direction in your career is urgent and important on your to-do list, you can use Fuzu to start applying for jobs. Plus you could earn yourself a free session with our very own Head of Talent next week to help you prioritize your tasks as we approach next year.
