Position Overview
M/s Decalogue International Ltd seeks to engage a dynamic and experienced Resident Architect to join our Project Management and Construction Supervision Team. The successful candidate will be based full-time on site in Bahati, Nakuru County and Garissa County.
Applicants must be willing to relocate immediately upon appointment and serve on a full-time site basis. The Resident Architect will be responsible for the inspection, supervision, coordination, and administration of architectural works to ensure compliance with the approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, contractual requirements, project timelines, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
The Resident Architect shall be responsible for the day-to-day inspection, supervision, coordination, and monitoring of construction works on site to ensure compliance with the contract documents, approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
The Resident Architect shall:
Oversee site works and coordinate architectural implementation on site.
·Prepare, review, and issue architectural drawings, details, sketches, and design assignments from the office and site.
· Carry out regular site inspections to ensure all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
· Monitor workmanship, materials, finishes, and methods of construction to ensure compliance with required quality and aesthetic standards.
· Inspect and approve architectural finishes, fittings, fixtures, mock-ups, and sample materials prior to installation.
·Ensure proper interpretation and implementation of architectural details on site.
·Act as the on-site representative of the Architect, Lead Consultant, and/or Project Manager in monitoring construction activities.
·Manage and coordinate multiple project sites within their assigned jurisdiction/region and ensure consistent quality and reporting across all sites.
·Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, clerks of works, and site personnel to facilitate smooth execution of works.
·Monitor progress of works against the approved programme and highlight delays, risks, and mitigation measures.
·Report any defects, non-conformances, inconsistencies, or deviations from approved drawings and specifications to the Architect/Project Manager.
·Verify that materials delivered to the site are approved, compliant with specifications, and properly stored and protected.
·Keep accurate site records, including daily site diaries, inspection reports, photographs, snag lists, and progress logs.
·Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc site inspection and progress reports.
·Attend site meetings, technical meetings, inspections, and stakeholder meetings and prepare minutes where required.
·Inspect completed works and prepare snag lists, defect lists, and follow-up reports on rectification works.
·Witness and record testing and commissioning of architectural and related building works where applicable.
· Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, material samples, and method statements related to architectural
works.
·Monitor adherence to approved project budgets, specifications, and timelines from an architectural perspective.
·Advise the Architect/Engineer/Project Manager on observed deficiencies, design coordination issues, site risks, or potential construction challenges.
·Ensure proper coordination between architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical components on site.
·Promote compliance with health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements on site.
· Represent the Consultant during inspections by clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders where required.
· Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Architect, Engineer, or Project Manager in relation to the project.
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from a recognized university.
- Registration with BORAQS as a Registered Architect.
- A valid Practising Licence.
- Minimum of six (6) years' relevant experience in architectural design,
contract administration, and construction supervision of building
projects. - Demonstrated experience supervising medium to large-scale building developments.
- Strong knowledge of construction technology, contract administration, and architectural detailing.
- Excellent report writing, communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArchiCAD and/or Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant architectural software.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple project responsibilities.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
