The National Council for Children’s Services (NCCS) is established under section 41 of the Children Act, No. 29 of 2022. The mandate of the Council is to regulate, coordinate and oversight children’s services in Kenya; and to advise the government on all aspects related to child rights and welfare. Its core functions are to: -be the central authority on Inter-Country and Local Adoptions; advise the Cabinet Secretary on all matters relating to child protection; advise on Legal and Policy formulation on child rights and welfare; determination of priorities in child rights and welfare; ensure implementation of Kenya’s international and regional obligations relating to children and preparation of the required State Party reports (UNCRC and ACRWC); establish Children Advisory Committees (CACs) in every County and Sub-County; and approve the registration of Charitable Children’s Institutions (CCIs).
