I’d like to think that 2021 has been a bit kinder than last year was. We have certainly found ways to push through despite all the hardships we’ve gone through. Social media has been especially helpful for this by enabling us to share our thoughts on various trending topics with the world. Twitter, in particular, allows us to give summarized views on everything, with no edit button (we’re still waiting on that). You have to mean what you say or tweeps will gladly take it out of context for you. Here are some of the top tweets we found to be most interesting this year. Enjoy!

1. “You appeared in X searches…”

This tweet was a personal favorite that really got me laughing because it is simply a case of buying the cow so you can get the milk.

2. Two weeks off

Is it me or does it seem like we are always online working on something these days? Well, this might not be the case for everyone but it is definitely good to take a break from it all when you get the chance. This tweet was certainly a reflection of that. I’m sure the girl in question must have had a rude shock when she walked back into the office after those two weeks.

3. Kidnapping or just an expected vacation?

There have been lots of memes and posts of people entertaining being kidnapped as a break from their mundane lives. Some have said they would be flattered to be chosen by their kidnappers as it showed they had something special. Others have made hypothetical videos venting to their captors to the extent where they were set free for being too annoying. Whatever the case, under the context of this tweet, I'd like to imagine that kidnappers do not have the budget to whisk you off to an exotic location.

4. Immigration to hell

From this tweet, Australia has got some bad PR for having the wildest and most dangerous creatures on the planet. Look it up. Anyone who willingly goes to Australia must have a death wish in my opinion.

5. Heart and code

Where are the techies? This one's for you. Talk about pouring your heart into your work.

6. “Are you still watching?”

Let me give you a scenario. It’s Saturday night and you are settled in for the evening to watch a movie or a show on Netflix. You end up sifting through the titles for about 43 minutes until you end up settling for that show you’ve been binge-watching for the past two years. If this sounds like something you have been through then this tweet perfectly summarizes why that may be the case.

7. Sufficient funds

The ATM has a funny way of drawing attention to you when you want it the least and this summed it up perfectly.

8. Always go where your spirit moves you...if your wallet allows it

Wanderlust does not choose whomever or whenever it strikes. Just make sure you have the necessary funds to get you where you want to go and back. Your willpower may be strong and courage unwavering but not enough to teleport you to your vacation destination.

9. Ask, lest you end up in the real-life Squid Games

In all honesty, this particular tweet had me laughing for a couple of days. If you haven’t seen the Korean Netflix series, Squid Game, try to watch it as soon as you can. This will give you a bit of context to this tweet and you might enjoy the show as well. Without giving too much away, the main character named Seong Gi-hun owes millions in debt and enters a dangerous and violent competition to win a grand prize. With that being said, do you think talking about your debt before getting married is important?

10. The thing about bitcoin is it flips itself

Given the volatility of cryptocurrency, it’s understandable why some would be afraid of it and yet we still don’t want to miss out on the opportunities it brings. That said, I'm sure we always appreciate a good pun. Hopefully, the CBN does too.
