Kakira Out Growers Rural Development FUND (KORD) is a rural/urban organization that strives to improve the quality of life of the community within a 50km radius of Kakira Sugar Limited (KSL) by facilitating the provision of loans, and implementing community development projects. KORD’s focus areas include: Access to financial services by farmers; improving community service delivery infrastructures namely education, roads and health facilities, environment conservation through institutional and household energy saving stoves, care and support for OVC, water and sanitation and fundraising for community development projects. KORD supports the provision of infrastructure services to communities within 50 kilometers of Kakira Sugar Limited (sugar cane growing zones). KORD focuses on services that directly benefit Sugarcane Out growers, but also implement projects that are of benefit to the broader community.
