  • Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM or Animal Production Technology and Management; or Science Degree in Agriculture (Animal Production) from a recognized University/Institution. Applicants must have a Master of Science Degree in any of the above specified fields from a recognized University/Institution. A post graduate qualification in management or administration will be an added advantage.
  • Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience in the field of veterinary medicine or animal science with a bias in livestock production, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Principal Veterinary Officer in Government.

-        Planning, supervising and co-ordinating animal feeds and feeding development programmes for fences farms, ranches and communal grazing systems including pastoralism;

-        In liaison with Ministry of Water and Environment, Lands, Housing and Urban Development, advising on development of water resources, grazing reserves and rangelands for livestock;

-        Giving the District Production Officers support in planning, supervision and monitoring of animal nutrition, forage development and rangeland programs;

-        Giving advice on animal feeds’ management and feeding;

-        Regulating production, distribution of animal feeds and premixes;

-        Handling environmental issues related to land utilization for animal production;

-        Monitoring and evaluating staff performance;

-        Ensuring staff training as may be required;

-        Coordinating formulation and regulations relevant in animal nutrition, forage production and rangeland management;

-        Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
