Our client in Uganda is recruiting for an HR Manager for their office in Kampala. As part of their team, the HR Manager will be playing an important role in ensuring the department carries out its functions in a timely and professional manner. The role is based at the company Head Office and the incumbent will be interacting with employees at all levels, external parties, Group level staff and sister company staff and is expected to display a high level of integrity, maturity and professionalism.
Requirements
- Experience within a reputable microfinance institution in a similar managerial role for at least three years.
- Education: Minimum a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field is typically required. A master’s degree in HR or a related discipline can be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Labor Laws: Familiarity with labour laws and regulations is crucial for ensuring compliance in areas such as employment contracts, employee benefits, termination procedures, and workplace safety.
- Recruitment and Selection: Strong expertise in sourcing, interviewing, and selecting candidates, as well as designing effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
- Employee Relations: Ability to manage employee relations, handle grievances, and resolve conflicts in a fair and diplomatic manner while upholding the company’s policies and values.
- Performance Management: Proficiency in developing and implementing performance appraisal systems, conducting performance evaluations, and assisting managers in setting performance goals and objectives.
- Training and Development: Experience in identifying training needs, designing and delivering training programs, and facilitating professional development initiatives to enhance employee skills and competencies and evaluate impact of training done
- Compensation and Benefits: Knowledge of compensation structures, salary benchmarking, benefits administration, and the ability to develop and maintain competitive and equitable compensation programs.
- HR Policies and Procedures: Strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, including the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies that align with the company’s goals and comply with legal requirements.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to establish effective working relationships, communicate HR information clearly, and influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex HR issues, identify solutions, and make informed decisions that balance the needs of employees and the organization.
Ethical Conduct: Upholding high ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality, and handling sensitive employee information with discretion and professionalism.
