We are looking for a suitable candidate to take on the role of Knowledge Management and Multimedia Officer.

This position is in the Department of Strategic Communications, Digital, and New Business. The department works in collaboration with all departments and projects within the Uganda Country Office and PSI’s global hubs to advise, plan and coordinate PSI Uganda’s communication and knowledge-sharing activities. It establishes and implements communication-related activities, products, and events to communicate the work of PSI to its partners, donors, participants, and the public. The position will be responsible for delivering high quality knowledge and multimedia content for the Uganda Country Office and contribute to the overall output of the organization.


Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/Journalism/Digital Marketing/Digital Journalism/Public Health/Social Work/I.T, International Relations, or other relevant field.

• 2-5 years working experience, preferably in a mid-size or large private sector or international development organization, including hands-on experience implementing various multimedia, marketing, communications, media, external relations, and digital projects in a busy and dynamic environment.

• Fluency in English. Other Ugandan local languages would be considered an asset.

• Strong grasp of social media management, web marketing, Google Analytics, and campaign development.

• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

• Good photography and photo archiving skills

• Good video editing skills and knowledge of editing suites.

• Good graphic design skills and basic motion graphics skills.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to communicate in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ability to adapt messages to culturally diverse audiences.

• Analytical skills.

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and nondiscriminatory behavior and attitudes.

• Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Self-starter with an eye for detail and a willingness to learn through independent study; able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills.

• Energy, enthusiasm, and a good sense of humor.

Knowledge Management (40%) Information Management:

• Assist in the development and maintenance of a centralized knowledge repository for programrelated documents, reports, audio-visual content, and resources.

• Collaborate with program teams to organize and archive information in a user-friendly manner.

• Ensure that valuable insights and lessons learned are systematically captured, documented, and shared/published.

• Work with the Strategic Information and Learning (SIL) team to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of knowledge management initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.

• Act as a focal point for inquiries related to knowledge management and multimedia content, providing guidance and support as needed.

Data Visualization:

• Work with the SIL, programs, and communications teams to create visually appealing infographics, charts, and dashboards to convey programmatic information.

• Explore creative ways to present data that enhance understanding and engagement.

Documentation:

• Alongside the Communications Coordinator, assist in systematic capturing of key achievements and lessons learnt from projects/program activities for knowledge building and sharing, new business development as well as advocacy.

• Conduct research, document, and generate knowledge materials to be published in both web-based and print formats.


• Write, edit, or rewrite articles, newsletters or other communications/publicity materials as required.


Multimedia (60%) Manage multimedia pre- and post-production

• Produce multimedia content in various formats, including, but not limited to: videos, online photo galleries, photo essays, webcasts, podcasts, infographics, slide shows, PowerPoints and others.


• Assist with the production of audio/video projects by conducting research, acquiring copyright and other clearances, and arranging for editing and audio mixing.

• Take high quality photographs and videos of the Country Representative, Deputy Country Representative, donors, senior officials and government representatives at high-level engagements and official meetings, including portraits, group photos, ratifications, objects, visitors, and internal events for web, social media, and other platforms.


• Contribute to multimedia and other promotional campaigns and special events and support audio and visual needs of events, website(s), and publications.

• Manage online editorial calendar to ensure the production of targeted, high-quality content for the website, social media platforms, and digital assets.

• Alongside the Communications Coordinator, manage and maintain PSI’s social media and digital presence.


• Employ search engine optimization to improve PSI Uganda’s online presence and make recommendations on best practices for web writing and editing.

• Manage the editorial process of PSI Uganda’s monthly/quarterly e-newsletter.

• Optimize, index, tag, caption, and upload photos, videos, and other multimedia content to the PSI Uganda databases.


• Ensure quality in all content products, alignment with PSI’s branding and engagement objectives.

Capacity Building

• Participate in training sessions or workshops related to knowledge management, digital implementation, and multimedia production.


• Support the preparation of knowledge sharing events and strategies to promote a culture of learning among staff.

Generic Duties

• Prepare audio-visual briefing materials for senior management, program leads, advocacy team and communication specialists prior to their appearance at interviews, conferences, and briefings. Participate in the organization of seminars, conferences, and meetings.

• Maintain lines of communication and working relationships with representatives of the media, government, NGOs, communities, private sector, partners and/or other groups to develop an understanding of information requirements.

• Provide general administrative support to communications activities as needed.

• Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
