WHO WE ARE The Civil Defence, Immigration and Prisons Service Board (CDIPB) was established by Decree No. 14 of July, 1986 as the “Customs, Immigration and Prisons Services Board” under the Chairmanship of the Honorable Minister of Internal Affairs. The Board was charged with the responsibility of administering the Customs and Exercise Management Act (CEMA) of 1958, the Immigration Act of 1963 and the prisons Act of 1972. In addition, it was given the exclusive responsibility for the appointment, promotion and discipline of all officers of the Services. In 1992, the Nigeria Customs Service was excised from the Board and placed under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Finance, thus changing its name to the “Immigration and prisons Services Board” (IPB). Consequently following the transfer of the supervision of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) to the Board in March 2011, its name again change to the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board” (CDIPB).
