Africa’s fastest-growing career platform topped out this month in March as the number one job site in Uganda, and the 44th most visited website in the country.
Hurray!!! Fuzu entered the top 50 websites in Uganda. Yeap! You heard that right, Africa’s fastest-growing career platform topped out this month in March as the number one job site in Uganda, and the 44th most visited website in the country according to Amazon’s Alexa rankings.
Why is this news a Big Bang moment for us at Fuzu? It is because this goes to show how significant the work we are doing is in addressing the huge unemployment challenge. Every single year, over 400,000 Ugandans enter the job market to compete for the limited pool of about 52,000 jobs in the formal sector. The limited number of jobs is further exacerbated by the general lack of career guidance and coaching. This combination of limited jobs and no career guidance makes the already bad situation worse. The struggle to find meaningful employment can range from questions as big as the uncertainty about which career path to take, how to position yourself in the job market… to run of the mill challenges like how to write a CV, the proper format for a cover letter, and the unnerving tension that comes with job interviews.
As such, it is little wonder that many choose to shelve their professional pursuits, and totally give up on ever finding their dream job, let alone any job at all. At Fuzu, we dared to say that all hope is not lost. On 01st May 2018, we launched in Uganda with only a handful of registered users who have since grown to over 140,000. Over the 3 years, we have directly facilitated the placing of over 1000 candidates in various positions across several organizations. We also have greatly grown our job content over the years from about 300 jobs a month in 2018 to over 1000 jobs every month across multiple sectors including the Government, International NGOs, Tech Start-ups, Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics, Finance and Banking, Academia and Education and a host of many others.
We are immensely proud of the contribution we are making to impacting the lives of every job seeker. And we would like to thank every Fuzu user who has been a part of this journey with us. We recently revamped our user interface to make it more exciting and engaging. We are also soon launching our Badging feature that will enable you to showcase to employers your acquired skills from the courses taken on the Fuzu site.
