Knowing the most in-demand Tech Skills within the digital economy will help you understand the employment opportunities that will be available for you to capitalize on. With that in mind, I drew my data for this article from two polls that we ran asking our community which tech skills they felt would be relevant in the next 10 years and which tech course is most in-demand. The results showed Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Development, and Data Analytics as the leading fields one should consider.

With this result in mind, I will expound on each skill so as to help you choose the one which suits you the most.

1. Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is broadly defined as the development of computer systems to perform tasks with limited human input. In practice, there are four types of artificial intelligence: reactive machines, limited memory, theory of mind, and self-awareness. All these present career opportunities for you to pursue. Artificial Intelligence practitioners are often referred to as Engineers. Their key role includes developing intelligent algorithms capable of learning, analyzing, and predicting future events. Moreover, you can specialize further in fields such as Machine Learning or Deep Learning. Machine Learning is based on algorithms and decision trees. Deep Learning is based on neural networks.

2. Machine Learning

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that uses algorithms to feed data to software applications. It is widely used by companies to better understand their customer’s behavior as well as business operation patterns. This in turn provides accurate data for the development of new products and improving operations. Many leading companies, such as Facebook, Google, and Uber, have made machine learning a central part of their operations

As a machine learning expert, some of your roles will be to design machine learning models, develop machine learning and deep learning algorithms, run machine learning tests and experiments, and implement appropriate machine learning algorithms.

3. Mobile Development

Mobile devices are among the most used electronics in the world and an integral part of our everyday lives. With this in mind, you should consider a career as a mobile developer. In this profession, you will be tasked with either designing, developing, or implementing mobile applications in line with the appropriate mobile platforms such as Android or iOS. What’s more, in-depth knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML5, Python CSS, is also paramount to creating mobile applications.

On a personal level, analytical and structured thinking is a skill set you should develop as a mobile developer. Also, your communication skills are important when working with a team or customers during development.

4. Data Analytics

We live in an information age where data is considered king. As such, opportunities for data analysts will not seize any time soon. You can opt for a career in either of the 4 main fields of data analytics: Descriptive Analyst (analyzes what happened in the past;) Diagnostic Analyst (considers why events happened by comparing descriptive data sets to identify dependencies and patterns;) Predictive Analyst (determine likely outcomes by detecting tendencies in descriptive and diagnostic analyses.) Perspective Analyst (attempts to identify what business action to take based on combined data.)

Indeed, the opportunities are multiple for anyone wishing to become a data analyst.

Taking one of the courses provided by Zalego to learn these tech skills is a good place to start. They also have job openings that you can apply for.
