Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Conflict Studies, with relevant practical experiences, working on early warning and early response mechanisms.
  • At least 3 months experience working in EWER related activities
  • Experienced in tracking and monitoring early warning indicators.
  • Experienced in managing EWER dashboard and data analysis
  • Experienced in working with relevant stakeholders to facilitate early responses.
  • Experienced in report writing and data analysis

  • Familiarity with data tracking and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with data analytics
  • Familiarity with social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and other Nigerian Languages.

Job Description

  • Search is seeking a professional, motivated, and creative individual who will provide relevant support to the EWER components of our projects in the Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers in the Niger Delta; Plateau and Kaduna State in the North-Central zone, and Bauchi in the North-East zone (6 interns) and Search’s Centralized EWER platform in Abuja. He/She will be responsible for supporting program activities across Search’s projects in the Niger Delta, Northeast, middle belts, and the Federal Capital territory.
  • The EWER Intern will provide programmatic support, including monitoring and tracking of early warning indicators, collation of EWER incidents, and analysis and development of EWER bulletins from projects across the Northeast, Northcentral, and Niger Delta regions of Nigeria. The EWER Intern will work closely with project team members, under the supervision of the EWER Consultant and Coordinator based in Abuja,
  • The position holder will organize offline/online periodic meetings with project EWER focal points, manage the EWER database, contribute to analyzing EWER data, and develop weekly and monthly EWER bulletins and reports.
  • Duration: 6 months

Duties

  • Manage the project hotline
  • Manage the EWER dashboard
  • Track and monitor conflict and security incidents across different credible internal and external platforms across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
  • Online and offline tracking of incidents and conversations with the potential to instigate violent reactions.
  • Identify conflict triggers and violence to understand the conflict dynamics and spike in violence over a period of time
  • Work with project focal points to verify and triangulate reported incidents/EWER indicators across project locations.
  • Work closely with other projects with EWER components to support and strengthen the Centralized EWER platform
  • Manage situations involving violent conflicts in project communities by providing real-time assistance and support to the necessary response units.
  • Communicate with stakeholders periodically to collate and ascertain information within their communities to support data analysis.
  • Triangulate information with security agencies, community influencers, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure valid information is shared appropriately for early response.
  • Work Closely with the EWER Consultant, Coordinator, and National Conflict and Policy Analyst to analyze incidents and produce periodic EWER bulletins.
  • Organize and participate in meetings for the discreet dissemination of EWER bulletins.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
