Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in emergency nursing (recent experience preferred).
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license.
- Proficiency in emergency nursing procedures, triage, patient assessment, and emergency medication administration.
- Knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and hospital emergency protocols.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary surgical environment.
- Ability to prioritize care, act decisively in emergencies, and maintain meticulous documentation.
- Flexibility regarding shift patterns and clinical areas.
- Experience mentoring or teaching junior staff is an advantage
Responsibilities
Clinical & Emergency Care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care for emergency presentations.
- Undertake nursing interventions based on evidence-based practice and respond promptly to patient deterioration or emergencies.
- Preserve patient dignity and rights always, including during high-pressure or critical incidents.
- ·Provide health education and counseling to patients and families using resourceful and innovative approaches.
Emergency Procedure Management
- Perform triage, monitor vital signs, and initiate interventions according to hospital emergency protocols.
- Administer medications and emergency treatments safely and per protocol.
- Respond to adverse incidents, emergencies, and critical events within scope of practice.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Adhere to clinical guidelines, hospital policies, and infection prevention protocols.
- Maintain high standards of care, integrating quality initiatives into practice.
- Support accreditation processes and participate in audits, KPIs, and quality improvement activities.
Safety Management
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and mitigating clinical and operational risks.
- Ensure all medical devices and equipment are maintained in safe working order and used appropriately.
- Take immediate and appropriate action in emergencies and adverse events.
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide structured handovers to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain regular communication with the Unit Manager on patient care, workflow, and operational issues.
