Lead Engineer, Boiler Controls
Location: Egbin, Nigeria
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance schedule.
- Develop and improve preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenance culture.
- Ensures all preventive/breakdown/corrective maintenances are duly carried out and documented.
- Ensures the outcome of weekly compliance and completion rates of preventive/corrective/breakdown maintenances are duly implemented and executed.
- Monitor the closure of trouble memos on Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM).
- Liaises with Lead Engineer Boiler field instrumentation to re-assess breakdowns of equipment for preventive maintenance schedule.
- Addresses issues bordering on human resources and personnel issues and escalates it upward if not addressed or for further action where necessary.
- Ensures all monthly reports are duly done.
- Ensures all special reports are duly done and documented.
- Periodically assess all staff under him for training needs for optimal performance.
- Ensures availability of materials and tools required for the job.
- Supervise control systems and instruments with a focus on both efficiency and environmental sustainability.
- Ensures HSE guidelines are adhered to strictly during and on the job.
- Develop a plant patrol and monitoring check sheet to be reviewed periodically as determined.
- Provide support in spare parts planning, budget planning, purchase, and inspection activities.
- Execute documentation according to the IMS standard.
- Implements strategies that improve performance and reliability.
- Ensures all risk registers for breakdown/corrective maintenance and the section are kept and reviewed periodically.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit Head Boiler Systems/Head of Department.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer/Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical or Systems Engineering.
- Postgraduate/relevant professional qualifications.
- Minimum of seven years of work experience with at least three (3) years in supervisory level and direct exposure to I&C systems and power plant maintenance processes.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical Knowledge of I&C system for Boiler and auxiliaries.
- Strong background knowledge of Emerson Ovation controls.
- Sound understanding of work and history of turbine generators and auxiliaries.
- Good knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to I&C maintenance of Boiler/Turbine generator and auxiliaries.
- Technical Troubleshooting skills.
- Sound knowledge of safety requirements.
- Good knowledge of computerized Maintenance Management system or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the power generation process.
- Effective Communication and Reporting Skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
