Description
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in vehicle inspection and workshop supervision, including heavy goods trucks.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair standards.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance for commercial vehicles.
- Proficiency in MS Office and workshop management systems.
- Excellent technical and diagnostic skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
Vehicle Inspection
- Conduct detailed inspections of BPIL-owned vehicles and those intended for hire to ensure compliance with company standards, roadworthiness, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Recommend acceptance or rejection of vehicles based on inspection findings.
- Monitor adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
Workshop Supervision
- Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, including scheduling repairs and allocating tasks to technicians.
- Ensure repairs are completed to high standards within agreed timelines and budgets.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables; initiate procurement requests when necessary.
- Enforce workshop safety protocols and cleanliness.
Quality & Compliance
- Implement and monitor compliance with BPIL policies, manufacturer specifications, and statutory regulations.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on completed repairs and inspections.
- Ensure proper documentation for all maintenance and repair activities.
Team Coordination
- Supervise mechanics and technicians (internal and (or) outsourced), ensuring strong productivity and adherence to BPIL standards.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve complex repair issues.
- Liaise with fleet management, procurement, and operations teams for smooth workflow.
Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on inspections, repairs, and workshop performance.
- Track costs and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
