Position Overview

M/s Decalogue International Limited seeks to engage two (2) dynamic and experienced Resident Engineers to join our project supervision team. The positions will be site-based in Masalani Town (Ijara Constituency) and Garissa Town, both in Garissa County.

Applicants must be willing to be posted to either location and be available to commence/relocate immediately upon appointment. The Resident Engineer will be stationed full-time on site and will be responsible for the inspection, supervision, and control of construction works to ensure compliance with design specifications, technical standards, timelines, and budgetary provisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Serve as the primary on-site representative of the Consultant and act as the main liaison between the Client, Contractor, and project team.
  • Manage and supervise multiple project sites within the assigned region and provide technical oversight where required.
  • Work effectively under pressure while managing tight timelines and competing project priorities.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and coordination with Clients, Contractors, local authorities, and community representatives.
  • Facilitate timely decision-making and maintain strong communication across all project stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to site staff and ensure efficient team performance.
  • Review and approve construction plans, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Conduct daily and weekly site inspections to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and quarterly progress and status reports.
  • Maintain updated correspondence logs, issue registers, and project documentation.
  • Report to the Consultant on progress, risks, delays, disputes, or non-compliance.
  • Supervise construction operations to ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications.
  • Review and verify material tests, workmanship, and quality control procedures.
  • Resolve on-site issues and coordinate technical solutions with relevant professionals.
  • Represent the Consultant in all project and coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate with public and private service providers for utility connections and approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
  • Interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of construction finishes and detailing.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Engineer/Consultant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)-A MUST.
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience in building construction supervision or management.
  • Proven experience supervising large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, construction methods, and project management practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with AutoCAD/ArchiCAD and project management software.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
