Agronomy/Plant Husbandry Officer

To manage the planning, planting, and harvesting of fodder to support livestock operations sustainably, and other crops.

1. Develop cropping plans (Napier, Rhodes, maize silage, etc.) aligned with feed demand

2. Manage soil health, fertilisation, irrigation, and pest control

3. Coordinate harvesting, ensiling, and hay baling operations

4. Optimise yield per acre and forage quality through data-driven practices

5. Supervise field labour and maintain field input/output records

6. Liaise with livestock team to ensure feed availability matches herd needs

7. Develop seasonal and annual cropping calendars aligned to livestock feed demand and climatic conditions
   

8. Select and manage forage crop varieties and seed sources
   

9. Monitor and improve forage nutritional quality in collaboration with the livestock team
   

10. Maintain digital agronomy records and production data
    

11. Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and agricultural regulations
    

12. Prepare and manage agronomy input budgets
