Description
Requirements:
- 4-6 years of experience in cargo-loading, freight terminal operations, or transportation services, including previous experience in supervisory or team lead roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cargo preparation, loading, and unloading processes for air, sea, and ground transportation.
- Familiarity with military freight and logistics operations, particularly with handling explosives, ammunition, HAZMAT, or other dangerous goods per NAVSEA OP-2239 and applicable federal regulations.
- Experience packing, marking, and documenting retrograde items and materials according to NAVSUP Publications 700 and 485.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage and oversee freight terminal operations and ensure compliance with procedures.
- Proficiency in handling transportation documentation, including manifests, proof of shipment, bills of lading, and packing lists.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a multi-national workforce and coordinate with stakeholders.
- Must be detail-oriented with experience in maintaining accurate maintenance and operational records.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems or freight management software, along with basic computing skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate cargo-loading services, ensuring all cargo is accurately and properly loaded in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure vehicles used for transporting ammunition, explosives, dangerous goods, and HAZMAT are correctly marked, equipped, and operated in compliance with NAVSEA OP-2239, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and other applicable regulations by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, and Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety standards.
- Oversee the packing and marking of unclassified retrograde items and materials in accordance with NAVSUP Publications 700 and 485 requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintain a copy of proof of shipment documents for retrograde items, as required by the Government.
- Manage freight terminal operations, including cargo preparation, loading, unloading, consolidation, and shipment by air, sea, and ground transportation.
- Supervise and manage a dedicated Freight Forwarding Office to coordinate the receipt, consolidation, storage, and shipment of materials.
- Conduct quality assurance inspections to certify compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines during cargo handling and transportation operations.
- Prepare and verify shipping documents, including manifests, bills of lading, and packing lists.
- Address and resolve loading or transportation issues, including damaged equipment, hazardous material handling, or improper packing practices.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations during handling, packing, marking, and transportation processes.
- Lead and train a team of freight and cargo personnel to accomplish efficient and compliant operations.
- Coordinate with government personnel, vendors, and other departments to meet deadlines and ensure mission success.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports of freight and cargo operations, providing updates as required to government representatives.
- Monitor and maintain an efficient inventory system for cargo and freight terminal operations in a secure and organized manner.
