Poultry Husbandry Officer

To manage poultry flocks (layers and broilers), ensuring optimal health, feed conversion, and production outcomes.

1. Oversee daily operations of the poultry unit (feeding, watering, cleaning, egg collection)
   

2. Implement and update vaccination, deworming, and biosecurity plans, including routine flock health surveillance and early disease detection
   

3. Monitor feed intake, feed quality, weight gain, mortality, and egg production metrics, and recommend corrective actions where required
   

4. Maintain proper housing conditions (lighting, ventilation, stocking density, hygiene), including brooding conditions during chick placement
   

5. Supervise labour and ensure record keeping is accurate and timely, including maintaining digital production and health records
   

6. Recommend upgrades, repairs, and procurement for poultry infrastructure, equipment, and biosecurity improvements
   

7. Oversee chick placement and brooding management to ensure optimal early growth and survival
   

8. Ensure compliance with poultry welfare standards, workplace safety, and safe handling of vaccines, chemicals, and equipment
   

9. Support production planning, flock placement schedules, and depletion planning in line with farm targets
   

KPIs

1. Egg production rate per bird (>85% target for layers)
   

2. Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) for broilers within optimal range
   

3. Biosecurity breaches <1 per quarter
   

4. Mortality rate <3%
   

5. Accurate and timely submission of poultry production and health records
